Photographer Emily Fleck was smitten by the nomadic lifestyle and wonderful people of RBBB’s Gold Unit when her trumpet player husband accepted a gig with the circus band in 2011. Originally conceived of as a one-stop-shop to share her circus imagery, Emily wanted to share not just photos, but stories, too. This space is home to not just show pictures, but life on the road, formal portraits, and interviews of the people and animals who make the show what it is: a rich and long-standing tradition, but also….their home.
Feld Entertainment closed the Gold Unit permanently at the end of October 2015, leaving dozens without work and ending ten years of circus entertainment for small American towns. This space will live on, archiving Emily’s photography work between 2011-2015 as well as new content, telling the stories of other circus people around the United States, perhaps even the world.
Thank you so much for your support.
